State Manager – Victoria | Bulk Operations

Lead a major Victorian waste and resource recovery operation across bulk bin collections, transfer stations, customers, fleet, people, safety and commercial performance.

Kartaway is seeking an experienced State Manager to lead and grow our Victorian Bulk Bin Operations. Based in Brunswick East, this senior role is suited to a commercially minded operations leader who can improve service delivery, strengthen team capability, manage compliance and drive sustainable growth across a busy state operation.

About The Role:

Reporting directly to the General Manager and working as part of the senior leadership team, you will have end-to-end responsibility for the performance of our Victorian Bulk division. This includes bulk bin collection operations, transfer station performance, fleet and labour productivity, customer outcomes, safety, compliance, revenue, margin and EBIT delivery.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

• Leading safe, efficient and compliant bulk bin collection, processing and disposal operations across Victoria.

• Managing the performance of transfer stations, truck operations, fleet utilisation, labour productivity and service delivery.

• Driving financial performance, including revenue, margin, cost control, forecasting, reporting and EBIT outcomes.

• Leading, coaching and developing operational leaders, drivers, site teams and support staff.

• Maintaining strong safety, environmental and regulatory compliance, including EPA and OH&S obligations.

• Building strong relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and regulators.

• Identifying and delivering growth opportunities, including new work, contract renewals, service improvements and operational efficiencies.

• Developing and implementing state business plans aligned with broader company objectives.

About You:

• Proven experience in a senior operations, branch, state or site management role.

• Strong leadership capability, with experience managing teams in a transport, waste, recycling, logistics, heavy industry or similar operational environment.

• Commercially astute, with demonstrated experience managing budgets, operating costs, forecasting and P&L performance.

• Confident working in a regulated environment, with a strong understanding of safety, environmental and compliance requirements.

• Practical, hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance day-to-day operational issues with longer-term business improvement.

• Strong communication and relationship management skills across employees, customers, contractors and regulators.

• Experience in waste management, resource recovery, transfer stations or bulk transport operations will be highly regarded.

• Tertiary qualifications in business, operations, logistics or a related field will be viewed favourably but are not essential.
