Medical receptionist

About the role

We are seeking a warm, organized, and customer-focused Receptionist / Sales Assistant to join our team starting in October. In this role, you will be the welcoming face of our clinic and shoe store. You will manage front-of-house operations, book appointments, handle phone inquiries, and provide expert, supportive fitting advice to customers looking for specialized podiatry-approved footwear.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients and retail customers warmly upon arrival.

• Assess customer footwear needs, guide them through our podiatry-approved shoe ranges, and assist with sizing, fitting, and sales.

• Maintain product knowledge regarding footwear brands, orthotic-friendly options, and clinical features.

• Manage incoming phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries professionally.

• Schedule, reschedule, and manage appointments using our practice management software.

• Process retail and clinical transactions via EFTPOS/POS systems accurately.

• Ensure the front desk, waiting area, and shoe display floor remain tidy, organized, and well-stocked throughout the day.

• Assist with stock management, receiving deliveries, and inventory counts.

• Open and close the clinic safely and efficiently according to operating procedures.

About you

• Ability to commence in an ongoing part-time capacity starting October.

• Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or medical/allied health reception is strongly preferred.

• Exceptional communication, empathy, and a natural ability to build rapport with people of all ages.

• Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage a busy phone line while serving customers face-to-face.

• Punctual, professional, and dependable, with the ability to work independently during solo-coverage periods.

• A professional, well-presented demeanor suited to a healthcare and retail environment.
