All-Rounder in Spa & Pool Industry

About the role - Starting part-time, with possibility of full-time.

We’re looking for a reliable, organised and detail-focused person who wants to become a long-term part of our business, not simply fill a short-term warehouse role.

We are a busy Australian spa and pool parts business operating from a small warehouse and retail showroom in Carrum Downs. You’ll work closely with a small team of four, so reliability, accuracy and being able to take ownership of your role are extremely important.

The role will initially focus heavily on picking, packing, receiving stock, phones and customer service. However, the biggest long-term part of the role will be learning our extensive product range.

We sell thousands of spa and pool parts, including pumps, heaters, controllers, plumbing components, jets, filters and replacement parts. Nobody is expected to know these products when they start. We will help teach you, but you will also need to study products, catalogues, brands, and the website.

What matters is that you are interested in learning, can retain information and gradually become confident identifying products and helping customers find the correct part.

Our aim is to find someone who, over time, becomes a key and highly capable member of the business who really knows our products, customers and day-to-day operation.

Initial hours are approximately 8:00/9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday to Thursday, particularly during our busy Spring and Summer period, with some Friday work also available. We are flexible in this somewhat, depending on the person.

There is genuine scope for the role to grow into additional regular hours and potentially full-time employment. Ideally, we are looking for someone who wants to stay with the business long term and grow with the role, to become an indispensible part of the team.

Key responsibilities

• Picking and packing customer orders accurately, neatly and efficiently

• Learning our product range and progressively becoming confident identifying spa and pool parts

• Helping customers work out which replacement part or product they require

• Answering phones and responding to customer enquiries

• Serving customers in our showroom

• Receiving, checking and putting away incoming stock

• Checking products, quantities and part numbers carefully

• Keeping the warehouse and showroom clean, organised and presentable

• Helping maintain accurate stock locations and general warehouse organisation

• General day-to-day warehouse, retail and administrative duties as required

About you

We are less concerned about previous pool or spa industry experience than we are about finding the right person.

You should be someone who:

• Is genuinely looking for a stable, long-term role

• Is reliable and turns up when expected, particularly on Mondays

• Has excellent attention to detail and notices when something does not look right

• Can learn and retain a large amount of product information over time

• Has a strong grasp of written and spoken English and can communicate using good grammar

• Is organised and able to work efficiently without becoming careless

• Is comfortable speaking with customers both in person and over the phone

• Is confident using computers and learning new systems

• Can work independently once trained

• Is comfortable asking questions when unsure rather than guessing

• Is capable of normal warehouse lifting and handling

• Is comfortable being on their feet for most of the shift

• Takes pride in doing things properly rather than simply getting through a task quickly

• Is willing to help wherever required in a small business

What this role is not

This is not simply a seasonal pick-and-pack job.

We are looking for somebody we can invest time in training, particularly in our product range, who wants to become increasingly capable and valuable to the business.

The right person will begin by picking orders and answering phones, but over time we want them to become someone who can recognise products, understand common replacement parts, assist customers confidently and become an important part of how the business operates.
