Key Skills
  • Strong, demonstrable hands-on experience with Datadog, particularly Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Distributed Tracing, and Real User Monitoring (RUM)
  • Proven experience instrumenting applications for Datadog APM across multiple languages/frameworks (e.g. Java, .NET, Node.js, Python)
  • Strong understanding of the broader Datadog platform: Infrastructure Monitoring, Log Management, Synthetic Monitoring, Network Performance Monitoring, and Watchdog/AIOps features
  • Experience designing and building custom dashboards, monitors, SLOs, and Notebooks to support proactive service health management
  • Knowledge of Datadog agent deployment, configuration, and integration management across cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) and on-prem environments
  • Experience configuring Datadog alerting, notification pipelines, and integrating with ISM/ServiceNow and collaboration tools (e.g. Slack, Teams, PagerDuty)
  • Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and other observability standards, and how they integrate with Datadog
  • Understanding of application performance management concepts, service maps, and dependency analysis

What we’re looking for
  • 5+ years of application monitoring/observability experience, with 3+ years hands-on with Datadog specifically across APM, Infrastructure, Log Management, and RUM
  • Lead end-to-end Datadog implementations and onboarding for enterprise customers, acting as the primary technical authority from discovery through go-live and beyond
  • Run detailed discovery and requirements-gathering sessions with technical and business stakeholders, translating application landscapes into monitoring, tracing, and alerting designs
  • Deep, demonstrable experience instrumenting distributed applications for APM and distributed tracing, including custom instrumentation where out-of-the-box libraries fall short
  • Experience building Datadog dashboards, SLOs, Monitors, and Notebooks that give meaningful, actionable visibility into application health and performance
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP) and how Datadog integrates with cloud-native services
  • Experience with containerised and orchestrated environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and monitoring these via Datadog
  • Datadog certifications preferred (e.g. Datadog Fundamentals, APM, Log Management) or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Experience integrating Datadog alerting with ITSM platforms (ideally ServiceNow) and collaboration/on-call tooling
  • Experience in one or more of the following: scripting/automation (Python, Bash), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines for monitoring-as-code
