HelloTech Australia is a fast-growing mobile technology support company providing premium in-home and small business IT support.

Customers contact us when they need trusted, local help with everything from computer repairs, email and printers to Wi-Fi, home networks and everyday technology problems.

We are expanding the HelloTech network across Greater Sydney and the Central Coast and would like to hear from capable, customer-focused technology professionals interested in receiving additional local job opportunities.

This is an independent contracting opportunity, not an employment position. It may suit an established IT professional looking to supplement an existing workload, someone operating their own technology services business, or an experienced technician looking for flexible additional work.

Use your technical skills on your terms

Finding customers, coordinating appointments and managing payment administration can take time away from actually doing technical work.

HelloTech provides an alternative.

As an independent contractor, you decide the locations you service, when you make yourself available and whether to accept each individual booking opportunity offered to you.

There are no minimum hours, no minimum booking commitments and no guaranteed volume of work.

You remain free to provide services to your own customers or through other businesses and platforms.

Areas with opportunities

With HelloTech expanding its advertising across Greater Sydney and the Central Coast, we are particularly interested in hearing from contractors who service areas including:

• Central Coast: Gosford, Wyong, Erina, Terrigal and surrounding areas

• Western Sydney: Parramatta, Blacktown, Penrith, Liverpool and the Hills

• Eastern Suburbs and South: Bondi, Randwick, Maroubra and Sutherland Shire

• North Shore and Northern Beaches: Chatswood, Hornsby, Ryde, Manly and surrounding areas

You choose the suburbs and areas you are prepared to service.

Two types of technical work

You don't need to do everything.

When you apply, tell us what you're experienced in, what services you provide and which types of bookings you're interested in receiving.

Computer repair

For technicians experienced with hands-on Windows and Mac hardware and software work, bookings may include:

• Computer fault diagnosis and repair

• Screen, battery, keyboard, RAM and drive replacement

• Slow computer tune-ups and clean-ups

• Windows and macOS reinstalls and upgrades

• Virus, malware and scam clean-ups

• General laptop and desktop troubleshooting

Home and small business IT support

For technicians experienced with everyday technology support, bookings may include:

• Email setup and troubleshooting, including Gmail, Bigpond and iCloud

• Outlook and Microsoft 365 setup and troubleshooting

• Printer and scanner setup

• New computer setup

• Data transfers between old and new computers, phones and tablets

• Wi-Fi and home network troubleshooting

• Smart TVs and connected devices

• General technology assistance for home and small business customers

Additional skills are a plus

Experience in any of the following is useful, but not essential:

• Data recovery from failed or damaged drives

• Backup and NAS setup

• Small business networking

• Connected-home and smart-home technology

How it works

The HelloTech technician platform is designed to make managing customer bookings straightforward:

1. Nominate the suburbs you're prepared to service.

2. Indicate when you'd like to make yourself available.

3. Tell us the types of technology and services you're equipped to support.

4. Review suitable booking opportunities as they become available.

5. Choose whether to accept or decline individual opportunities based on your location, capabilities and schedule.

6. Use the HelloTech app to access booking information, navigate to the customer, record the work performed and close the booking.

HelloTech manages customer booking and payment administration, with contractor payments processed for completed jobs.

The customer experience

Technical knowledge is important, but so is the ability to make customers feel comfortable and informed.

HelloTech customers are often looking for someone who can not only solve the problem, but explain what's happening without unnecessary jargon.

Contractors providing services through HelloTech should be able to diagnose problems methodically, recommend practical solutions, communicate clearly and provide a professional on-site customer experience.

This opportunity may suit you if you have

• Genuine hands-on experience with computers, devices or IT support

• Strong practical troubleshooting skills

• A genuine interest in technology and helping people

• Clear, patient and professional communication skills

• Your own reliable transport

• Your own appropriate tools and equipment for the services you provide

• An Australian Business Number (ABN), or the ability to obtain one before undertaking bookings

There is no required minimum weekly availability. You decide when you wish to make yourself available for booking opportunities.
