About the Role
The Information Technology (IT) Administrator is a member of the Diplomatic Technology team. Administer IT systems ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This involves providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to customers through multiple channels, conducting system analysis and configuration management, and operating systems with a post-wide impact level. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex technical issues. Assist in network security measures, conduct system audits for compliance, and educate users on information security best practices. Participation in Diplomatic Technology (DT) initiatives and fulfillment of other assigned duties round out the role, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to IT administration and support.
Duties
Perform system administration duties, including managing and maintaining network and enterprise applications, user accounts, device/system configurations, and permissions.
Conduct system analysis and log reviews to troubleshoot and resolve issues at the Tier 2 level.
Manage Department of State user accounts, including initiating account transfers for onward assignments or removing accounts when no further assignment is required.
Guide customers in the proper use of IT systems and services. Assist with smartcard operations (e.g., PIN resets, network synchronization, certificate updates).
Establish and maintain accurate inventories of circuits and IT services, such as telephone lines, data and voice circuits, IP addresses, cellphone services, telephone numbers, and satellite connections.
Skills and Experience
REQUIREMENTS: FOR EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS APPLICANTS MUST MEET EITHER OPTION 1 OR OPTION 2 TO QUALIFY:
Option 1
2 (two) years of experience in computer networking operations, network management, or utilization of computer system is required.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Library and Data Science/Analytics, Audio/Visual Communications and Technology or related major is required.
Good working knowledge: speaking, reading, writing is required.
Option 2
Four (4) years of experience in computer networking operations, network management, or utilization of computer systems is required.
Two (2) years University or College Study is required.
Good working knowledge: speaking, reading, writing is required.
Job Knowledge
Knowledge of computer equipment operations, hardware, software, and computer networking is required.
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in office productivity suites such as Microsoft 365 is required.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills is required.
