The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for individuals to join our Complaint and Assessment Services (CAS) division as a VPS4 Assessment Officer across a number of full-time permanent ongoing roles and fixed term roles. Reporting to the Team Leader Assessments, CAS Assessment Officers are the engine room for the division assessing incoming complaints and notifications across a range of complexity levels to identify opportunities for IBAC investigations into public sector corruption and police personnel misconduct.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues and subject matter experts to ensure decisions are fair, consistent and supported by evidence This is an excellent opportunity to use your analytical skills in a dynamic environment where your work contributes to integrity, accountability and public confidence in Victoria's public sector.
CAS Division offers a genuine pathway for those wanting to build a motivating career in complaint assessment. Out career pathway starts with our VPS3 Associate Assessment Officers and extends to VPS4 Assessment Officers, VPS5 Team Leaders and VPS6 Managers. Duties include:
- Conduct assessments of complaints and notifications across varying levels of complexity within agreed timeframes and quality standards
- Apply policies, procedures and legislative requirements to assessment activities
- Communicate clearly and professionally with complainants and stakeholders
- Collaborate with team members to deliver consistent and high-quality outcomes

About you
- We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities:
- Experience handling end-to-end complaint or case-based work
- Experience forming judgements within legislative or policy frameworks
- Ability to balance quality, timeliness and complexity in complaint assessment or case-based work
Eligibility
Citizenship - to be eligible for employment with IBAC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
Security clearance - Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 security clearance. For further information regarding security clearances, please visit the AGSVA website: Assessment process | Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.
Victoria Police applicants (fixed term roles only): Due to a conflict-of-interest IBAC is unable to accept applications for secondment from Victoria Police employees.
