Senior Accountant

About the role

The primary focus of the position is the preparation, management and review of compliance work across a diverse portfolio of clients. While there will be some direct client interaction, this is not a heavily advisory-focused role. We are looking for someone who enjoys technical accounting and taxation work, takes pride in producing quality outcomes and can help drive consistency and excellence across our compliance function. The role provides an opportunity to work with interesting clients, complex structures and experienced professionals while building a long-term career within a growing firm.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements and income tax returns
• Prepare and review BAS, IAS and other compliance obligations
• Manage compliance requirements for companies, trusts, partnerships, self-managed superannuation funds and individuals
• Assist with tax planning and year-end tax strategy implementation
• Identify taxation risks, opportunities and areas requiring further advice
• Ensure work is completed accurately and within agreed timeframes
• Maintain high-quality workpapers and documentation
• Manage an allocated portfolio of clients and compliance deadlines
• Monitor workflow and proactively communicate capacity or timing issues
• Review work completed by junior team members where appropriate

About you

• CA or CPA qualification
• Five or more years experience in Australian public practice
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting requirements
• Experience preparing and reviewing complex compliance work
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• A collaborative approach and willingness to support teammates
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A practical, solutions-focused mindset
• A desire to continually learn and improve
