The Opportunity

Tasman Holiday Parks is looking for a commercially minded Data, Analytics & AI Lead to establish and lead our internal data and analytics capability.

This is a newly created, hands-on role with genuine visibility and influence. You will work at the intersection of commercial performance, revenue generation, data products, business intelligence and applied AI, turning information into clear decisions, prioritised actions and measurable commercial outcomes.

Working closely with our Executive and Operational teams, and in partnership with our external technology specialists, you will translate business questions into trusted data models, concise executive reporting, AI-enabled decision tools and actionable insights.

A key part of the role will be establishing the governed data foundation that allows Tasman to use AI safely and effectively. You will help identify where capabilities such as natural-language analytics, forecasting, anomaly detection, automated insight generation and intelligent decision support can create genuine value.

This is not a traditional IT support or report-production role. You will need the technical capability to oversee our Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and emerging AI environments, but your success will be measured by better decisions, stronger commercial outcomes and value created, not by the number of dashboards or reports produced.

What you will be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the vision, roadmap and delivery of Tasman’s data, analytics and AI capability, aligning solutions to commercial and operational priorities.

  • Translate business needs into trusted data products, reporting, analytics and AI-enabled decision-support tools.

  • Establish an AI-ready data foundation with strong governance, quality controls, secure access and consistent business definitions.

  • Identify, prioritise and deliver AI use cases that improve commercial performance, productivity and decision-making.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external technology providers to develop, implement and govern AI and analytics solutions.

  • Design executive dashboards, insights and action-oriented reporting that highlight risks, opportunities and performance drivers.

  • Create and manage a prioritised pipeline of commercial improvement opportunities, measuring the value and outcomes delivered.

  • Lead the development and ongoing optimisation of Tasman’s Microsoft Fabric and Power BI environment, including data integration, modelling and reporting.

  • Ensure data, AI and information assets are secure, reliable and compliant with privacy, cybersecurity and responsible AI standards.

  • Build organisational data literacy and AI capability while helping shape the future growth of Tasman’s enterprise data and AI platform.

What you will bring

You are an experienced analytics professional who is equally comfortable discussing commercial performance with an executive, designing a data product and investigating the detail behind a data-quality issue. In this role you will bring:

  • Significant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, commercial analytics or data product leadership.

  • Proven ability to translate complex business challenges into actionable insights, analytical solutions and measurable outcomes.

  • Advanced Power BI expertise, including semantic modelling, DAX, Power Query, visualisation and dashboard design.

  • Strong data modelling, SQL and analytical skills, with experience using Python or similar tools.

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services or comparable cloud-based data platforms, including API integration across multiple systems.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft data, identity and security environments.

  • Practical experience applying AI, large language models and automation to business data and workflows, with an understanding of associated governance, risk and oversight requirements.

  • Experience establishing data governance, quality controls, business definitions and reconciliation processes.

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify key performance drivers, risks and opportunities.

  • Confidence engaging with executives, operational leaders, technical specialists and external technology partners.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear, commercially relevant language.

The person we are looking for

You are commercially curious, pragmatic and focused on outcomes. You care about accuracy, security and governance, but you also understand that data and AI only create value when people can use them to make better decisions.

You will be someone who:

  • Enjoys building new capability rather than simply maintaining established processes.

  • Can move confidently between strategy, stakeholder engagement, solution design and hands-on analysis.

  • Is curious about emerging AI capabilities without being distracted by technology that lacks a clear business purpose.

  • Can distinguish a valuable, achievable AI use case from an interesting experiment.

  • Challenges inconsistent measures, assumptions and unsupported conclusions constructively.

  • Prioritises material opportunities over interesting but low-value analysis.

  • Works effectively across technical and non-technical teams and is comfortable operating independently in a growing and evolving business.

  • Takes ownership of delivering sustainable, secure and commercially useful outcomes.
