Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Freight Coordinator to join the Perth team at Logwin Air + Ocean Australia Pty Ltd. The role is responsible for coordinating complex and project-related freight movements from solution development through to operational execution and final delivery.

The successful candidate will combine strong operational freight forwarding expertise with commercial awareness, risk management and the ability to coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders. Hands-on experience with project cargo, breakbulk, flat rack and out-of-gauge movements is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Project Freight Coordination

• Manage project shipments from initial planning through to final delivery.

• Coordinate breakbulk, flat rack, out-of-gauge, oversized and other non-standard cargo movements.

• Develop practical transport solutions based on cargo dimensions, weight, routing, handling requirements and customer timelines.

• Coordinate international air and ocean freight movements as well as local transport, specialised trailers, crane operations, wharf, depot and handling requirements.

• Review shipment requirements and identify operational, regulatory and commercial risks before execution.

• Prepare and maintain shipment plans, schedules and project-specific documentation.

• Monitor critical milestones and proactively manage delays, exceptions and operational changes.

• Provide regular and accurate updates to customers and internal stakeholders.

Air Freight and AOG

• Coordinate urgent and time-critical air freight movements where required.

• Apply appropriate escalation and communication protocols for critical shipments.

• AOG or comparable time-critical logistics experience is highly regarded.

Biosecurity and Compliance

• Maintain a strong working knowledge of Australian biosecurity requirements relevant to imported project cargo.

• Identify potential biosecurity risks during planning, including cargo condition, packing materials, cleanliness and treatment requirements.

• Coordinate inspections, treatments and other compliance requirements with relevant parties.

• Work closely with customs brokers, transport providers, depots and government authorities where required.

• Ensure shipment documentation and operational processes meet applicable regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate multiple stakeholders throughout the project solution and execution phases.

• Liaise with customers, overseas offices and agents, shipping lines, airlines, transport providers, depots, terminals, customs brokers and other service providers.

• Maintain clear ownership of actions, deadlines and operational responsibilities.

• Escalate risks, delays, cost changes and scope variations early.

• Work closely with the General Manager and internal stakeholders on significant operational or commercial matters.

Commercial Management

• Review operational requirements against the agreed customer quotation and scope of work.

• Ensure services performed remain within the agreed commercial scope.

• Identify additional services, variations or costs that fall outside the original quotation.

• Obtain additional pricing and customer approval where required before additional services are performed.

• Escalate significant scope changes, commercial risks or unplanned costs to the General Manager.

• Review supplier charges and ensure all costs are correctly captured against each shipment or project.

• Support the preparation of quotations and project logistics solutions.

• Maintain awareness of shipment profitability and avoid uncontrolled cost exposure.

Experience and Skills

Essential

• Minimum 5 years of freight forwarding experience, including at least 3 years of relevant operational experience in Western Australia.

• Demonstrated hands-on experience managing project cargo, breakbulk, flat rack and out-of-gauge shipments.

• Strong operational freight forwarding background across international ocean and air freight.

• Practical knowledge of Australian biosecurity requirements affecting imported cargo.

• Experience coordinating specialised transport and project cargo movements.

• Strong understanding of freight documentation and operational requirements.

• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify scope and cost variations.

• Experience managing multiple suppliers, customers and operational stakeholders simultaneously.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.

• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities at the same time.

Highly Regarded

• AOG or other time-critical logistics experience.

• Experience supporting mining, energy, industrial, construction or resources-sector customers.

• Experience coordinating heavy haulage, cranes, specialised trailers or abnormal cargo movements.

• Existing knowledge of freight and logistics suppliers within the Western Australian market.

• Experience preparing project freight quotations and cost calculations.

Role Objective

The objective of this position is to ensure complex and project-related freight movements are planned and executed safely, compliantly, commercially and in accordance with customer requirements.

The Project Freight Coordinator is expected to take ownership of each project from quotation and planning through execution, cost control, exception management and final delivery, with escalation to the General Manager where operational or commercial risk exceeds their authority.
