Turn that passion into a profession. Develop the skills and experience to work in conservation & ecosystem management — no experience required.

Apply now for a paid, entry-level Conservation and Ecosystem Management Traineeship starting October 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, build valuable skills and gain hands-on experience while completing a nationally recognised qualification.

🌱 What’s in it for you?

  • Gain practical, on-the-job experience in environmental conservation

  • Earn while you learn with the Certificate I in Conservation and Ecosystem Management (AHC10124)

  • Be part of a 20-week paid traineeship (38 hours per week) with other likeminded individuals

  • Fortnightly Wage based on the National Training Award

  • Receive dedicated support to help you transition into long-term employment


🌱 The kind of work you’ll be doing:

  • Clearing invasive plant species

  • Operating tools and equipment (brush cutters, line trimmers, etc.)

  • Planting and regenerating native vegetation

  • Learning practical environmental restoration techniques

  • Repairing and rehabilitating the land, vegetation, and natural ecosystem along the banks of local waterways

  • Assist with basic ecological monitoring and identify native flora and fauna


🌱 We’re looking for people who are:

  • Enthusiastic and reliable

  • Positive and ready to learn

  • Moderately fit and enjoy working outdoors

  • Ready to start in October 2026

  • Available to attend interviews

🚗 Bonus: A valid driver’s licence and your own transport will be highly regarded, as travel to various work sites is involved.


📋 Eligibility criteria:

To apply, you must:

  • Be a Queensland resident

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or eligible visa holder

  • Not have previously completed a Certificate I in Conservation and Ecosystem Management

  • Meet other criteria under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative
