Apprenticeships Are Us is seeking motivated 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Year Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprentices for opportunities across Sydney, NSW.
With positions available across both major automotive dealerships and independent mechanical workshops, we'll work to match successful applicants with an opportunity suited to their current apprenticeship level, experience and career goals.
You'll earn while you learn and complete your AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, gaining hands-on experience alongside qualified automotive technicians.
Starting your apprenticeship? No previous automotive experience is required.
Already a 2nd, 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice? Your previous training and experience can be recognised, allowing you to continue progressing towards your qualification.
Dealership & Independent Workshop Opportunities
Not every apprentice is looking for the same workshop environment.
Through our network of host employers, opportunities may be available across:
Major Automotive Dealerships – Gain experience working with manufacturer-specific vehicles, systems, diagnostic technology and servicing procedures.
Independent Mechanical Workshops – Develop broad hands-on experience servicing, diagnosing and repairing a diverse range of makes and models.
Modern Automotive Workshops – Work alongside qualified technicians using current diagnostic equipment, tools and repair technology.
Placements are based on current vacancies, location, apprenticeship year, experience and host employer requirements.

What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will depend on your apprenticeship year, experience and host workshop, but may include:
Carrying out scheduled servicing and general vehicle maintenance.
Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
Using modern diagnostic equipment and workshop technology.
Repairing and maintaining braking, steering and suspension systems.
Assisting with engine repairs and mechanical component replacement.
Carrying out vehicle inspections, testing and safety checks.
Reading and following manufacturer specifications and repair procedures.
Using hand tools, power tools and specialised automotive equipment.
Developing your diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
As you progress through your apprenticeship, you'll take on more complex diagnostic and repair work and greater responsibility under the guidance of qualified technicians.
About You
We're looking for apprentices who are genuinely interested in automotive and committed to developing a long-term career in the industry.
You'll ideally have:
A genuine passion for cars and automotive technology.
A hands-on and mechanically minded approach.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
A strong work ethic and reliable attitude.
Good attention to detail.
The ability to take direction and apply feedback.
The ability to work effectively as part of a workshop team.
A current driver's licence (P1 or above preferred).
Applying as a 1st Year?
No previous automotive experience is required. A Certificate II in Automotive Servicing is advantageous but not essential.
We're looking for candidates with the right attitude, reliability and genuine motivation to build a career in automotive.
