The Opportunity

Step into a critical technology role supporting our community's future. As the Geographic Information Systems Officer, you will provide high-level service to manage and administer Council's GIS and spatial data. You will produce high-quality mapping, update digital cadastral base maps, and maintain comprehensive asset and environmental data.

This role is essential for strategic planning, requiring you to manage a GIS helpdesk, train end users, and collaborate with departments to ensure data integrity and efficient service delivery across the Shire.

About You

You are an analytical and creative problem solver with excellent communication skills. You can easily troubleshoot technical issues, train staff in GIS applications, and translate complex spatial data into easily understood visualisations for the community.

To succeed in this role, you will bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in a spatial information-related discipline or active progression towards one.

  • Extensive experience developing and managing corporate Geographic Information Systems.

  • Strong knowledge of cartography, QGIS, web mapping principles, and spatial data manipulation.

  • A practical understanding of batch scripting and maintaining thorough metadata records.

  • A current Class C Drivers Licence and a successful National Criminal History Check.

  • Desirable skills include previous Local Government experience and a Remote Pilot Licence or Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate.

Apply now and help build a positive, high-performing workplace for our people and our community.
