Technical Engineering Analyst

Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group (MTG) has supported global mining operations since 1972 and operates across more than 25 countries. We deliver tyre management, engineering and technology solutions that improve safety, reliability and productivity for our mining partners.

 

We are seeking an early-career or emerging Technical Engineering Analyst to join our Brisbane office, developing into a key technical resource supporting mine sites across Australia.

This is a structured development pathway role within our Technical Services function, offering mentoring and hands-on exposure to tyre engineering analysis, operational auditing and KalPRO technology deployment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate engineer or technically strong mining professional looking to build a career in tyre engineering, reliability and operational performance.

 

About the Role

You will work closely with site teams, Service Delivery Teams and senior Technical Services personnel to support tyre performance, safety and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple mining operations.

With structured training and mentoring, you will build capability across a range of technical and analytical disciplines, including both site-based and office-based work.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Perform technical studies and analysis both on-site and off-site, including:
• Heat studies
• TKPH studies using VBOX, VIMS or similar data
• Weight and payload analysis
• Haul road condition assessments
• TPMS data analysis
• Tyre and rim performance investigations
• Analyse operational and tyre performance data to improve safety, productivity and tyre life.
• Support Power BI analysis and specialised technical reporting, ensuring accurate data and meaningful insights.
• Assist with the implementation and ongoing support of KalPRO technologies, including TireSight and HaulSight.
• Support tyre management best practice across site teams.
• Assist with audits, safety investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collect, validate and accurately record technical and operational data using TOMS or similar systems.
• Assist with technical reports, tenders and client submissions.

 

About You

We are open to a range of backgrounds and will provide structured training, mentoring and development.

You may be:

• A graduate or early-career engineer (mechanical, civil or similar); or
• A technically strong mining or heavy industry professional seeking to transition into a technical engineering role; or
• An analytically minded candidate with strong mechanical aptitude looking to build a career in mining technical services.

 

You will ideally bring:

• Relevant engineering or technical experience.
• High mechanical aptitude.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and correlate complex data.
• Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint, Office 365 and Power BI (Microsoft Access desirable).
• Exposure to tyre management systems such as TOMS or TTC (advantageous).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders.
• Willingness and ability to travel to remote mine sites.
• Mining or heavy industry exposure (advantageous).
• Engineering degree desirable but not essential.
