Overview
Key Responsibilities
The PowerCo Delivery Lead owns end‑to‑end delivery of the full PowerCo scope for Project ARES, a 1GW hyperscale renewable energy and data centre development in the Northern Territory. The role leads delivery across 3,000 MWp solar PV, 1,000 MW/16 GWh BESS, gas‑fired firming generation and 132kV transmission infrastructure. It is responsible for long‑lead equipment procurement, EPC contractor performance, commissioning strategy and integrating early works capability into a unified PowerCo delivery organisation. The role is Perth based during FEED and transitions toward site as construction mobilises.
Key Responsibilities
- Own delivery of the full PowerCo scope including solar PV, BESS, gas generation and 132kV transmission
- Manage long‑lead procurement and slot reservations for gas engines, GIS switchgear and transformers
- Absorb Rail Access and Civil, Geotech and Approvals capability into the PowerCo delivery team post early works
- Coordinate gas supply arrangements with commercial and engineering stakeholders
- Lead EPC contractor selection, contract management and performance oversight across all PowerCo packages
- Own commissioning strategy and sequencing to meet phased IT load ramp requirements
- Report delivery progress, cost exposure and schedule risk to the Delivery Manager
- Establish systems, registers and ways of working from a blank page
- Promote strong HSE culture including site safety walks
- Apply commercial and technical frugality, favouring proven fit‑for‑purpose solutions
- Maintain position descriptions and conduct regular performance reviews for direct reports
- Communicate proactively on progress, risk and areas of exposure
- Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Minimum 15 years delivering large‑scale power generation projects across solar, BESS, gas and transmission
- Experience with hybrid renewable‑firming projects of comparable scale
- Strong cross‑technology delivery capability across solar PV, BESS, reciprocating gas engines and MV/HV transmission
- Proven ability to manage long‑lead procurement against tight commissioning schedules
- EPC contract management experience balancing cost, schedule and technology risk
- Comfortable integrating early works capability into a main construction delivery organisation
- Remote FIFO megaproject experience highly regarded
- Based in or willing to relocate to Perth
- Accountable and proactive, taking visible ownership of delivery outcomes
- Resilient under pressure, able to adapt plans as conditions change
- Enduring in approach, building systems and documentation that support operations
- Swift decision‑maker who balances timely action with rigour and safety
- Hands‑on leadership across multiple concurrent EPC packages and contractor interfaces
- Strong stakeholder management across technical, commercial and delivery teams
