About the Opportunity

We are a construction industry labour hire company on a strong growth trajectory, entering an exciting new chapter. The business currently operates with a small, close-knit team and relatively simple systems — and we're looking for an experienced Finance Manager to help us professionalise our accounting & payroll functions, implement new technology, and build the foundations needed to scale.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, the Finance Manager will take ownership of end-to-end payroll across multiple sites, ensure the business meets all of its statutory and industrial obligations, and lead the selection and implementation of a new Pay & Bill labour hire software platform. You will also manage our administration team, acting as a hands-on leader through a period of significant change and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Financial reporting and month-end close

  • Budgeting and forecasting activities.

  • Developing insightful management reporting and KPIs

  • Owning the end-to-end month-end close process and supporting accurate Group reporting

  • End-to-end payroll processing across multiple sites.

  • Interpretation and application of Enterprise Agreements and/or industrial awards (AWU agreement experience highly regarded).

  • Processing variable pay conditions including allowances, penalties, and overtime.

  • Managing leave calculations, accruals, and adjustments.

  • Ensuring accurate and timely payroll cycles.

  • Handling payroll queries and corrections.

Statutory Compliance

  • Payroll tax.

  • LeavePlus.

  • Incolink/Protect.

  • WorkCover.

  • Superannuation.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing management of a new Pay & Bill labour hire software platform, ensuring employees are paid and clients are charged accurately and on time.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and strengthen accounting & payroll processes and controls as the business scales.

Leadership

  • Manage and develop the administration team.

  • Act as the key point of escalation for payroll-related matters, both internally and for clients.

  • Partner with senior leadership to help stabilise and support the business through a period of fast growth.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience as a Finance Manager, ideally within labour hire and/or construction.

  • Strong working knowledge of Enterprise Agreements and Modern Awards; experience with AWU agreements highly regarded.

  • Practical experience managing statutory schemes such as LeavePlus, Incolink/Protect, WorkCover, and superannuation compliance.

  • Experience selecting, implementing, and/or managing payroll or Pay & Bill software — or the confidence to lead this process for the first time.

  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a small team.

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple sites.

  • A hands-on, adaptable approach, and the resilience and initiative to help stabilise and scale a business through a fast-growth period.

  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems and reporting tools

  • CA or CPA qualification
