Animal Attendant

At RSPCA WA, we're dedicated to improving the lives of animals and creating a better future through our animal welfare services. We're looking for compassionate and motivated Animal Attendants to join our Shelter team in Malaga.

About the role

As an Animal Attendant, you'll provide hands-on support to animals in our care, helping ensure their welfare and wellbeing as they await treatment, rehabilitation, or rehoming. Working alongside a dedicated team of animal welfare professionals, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day operation of our Animal Care Centre.

We have multiple casual opportunities available, with team members typically working between 15 and 30 hours per week, depending on operational requirements. These flexible roles offer valuable hands-on experience for those looking to start or grow a career in animal welfare.

What you'll be doing

You'll support the welfare of a wide range of animals, including feeding, cleaning, grooming, monitoring animal health and wellbeing, administering routine treatments as directed, and supporting shelter operations. You'll also work closely with colleagues, volunteers, students, and members of the public to help create a positive experience for both animals and people.

About you

You're passionate about animal welfare and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You're willing to learn, take direction, and contribute positively to a supportive team while also being confident working independently when required.

You will bring:

• A genuine commitment to animal welfare and high standards of animal care.

• The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, with a proactive and reliable approach to completing tasks.

• Strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to remain professional when working in a challenging or emotionally demanding environment.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of animal care, husbandry, or behaviour.

• Experience handling and caring for animals in a professional or volunteer setting.
