About us
We are a member-driven industry union with a deep history of representing working people, improving employment standards and building collective power across the transport industry.
Our work is grounded in the principle that workers are stronger when they act together. We support members in their workplaces, advocate for safer and fairer conditions, campaign for positive change and ensure workers have a meaningful voice in the decisions that affect them.
We are seeking an Office Manager who understands the purpose and culture of unions, not-for-profit organisations or activist and campaigning organisations, and who wants to use their administrative and organisational skills in work that makes a practical difference.
About the role
Reporting to the Branch Secretary, the Office Manager plays a central role in ensuring the Branch operates effectively and delivers a high standard of service to its members.
This is a varied and hands-on role supporting members, elected officials, committees, campaigns and broader organisational activity. It combines office coordination, membership administration, communications, event support, records management and engagement with suppliers and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will help maintain an organised, responsive and professional office while contributing to the work of an organisation committed to fairness, solidarity and collective action.
Key responsibilities include:
Coordinating meetings, appointments, conferences, member events and other organisational activities
Arranging venues, travel, agendas, minutes and supporting documentation
Providing administrative support to members, elected officials, committees and working groups
Maintaining accurate membership records, databases and office systems
Assisting with newsletters, surveys, campaign materials and other member communications
Supporting the administration and coordination of campaigns and member engagement activities
Ensuring the office is presentable, well supplied and operationally ready
Coordinating suppliers, contractors and external service providers
Managing merchandise procurement, stock and distribution
Providing professional front-of-house assistance to members and stakeholders
Supporting broader organisational priorities and projects as required
About you
You will be highly organised, dependable and motivated by the opportunity to contribute to an organisation working for positive social and workplace change.

You will have:
Experience in administration, office coordination, executive support or a similar position
An understanding of unions, not-for-profit organisations, advocacy bodies, community organisations or activist and campaigning environments
An alignment with the values and purpose of the union movement
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team
Strong member service and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience maintaining databases, records or membership systems
Well-developed Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel skills
Experience preparing reports and working with data
Experience coordinating suppliers, contractors or external service providers
The ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
Previous employment or volunteering experience within a union, membership organisation, advocacy body, community organisation, political organisation or not-for-profit environment will be highly regarded.
Experience with Canva, website content management systems, email marketing platforms or social media administration would also be advantageous.
Remuneration
The salary range is $80,000–$85,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience and qualifications.
