About the position
The Marketing and Communications Manager leads the planning and delivery of Volunteering Queensland’s marketing and communications activities, helping to build awareness of the organisation’s programs and services, strengthen its reputation and promote the value of volunteering across Queensland.
Working collaboratively across the organisation, the role develops and delivers integrated campaigns, compelling content and strategic communications that support its activities programs, services, partnerships and member engagement.
The Marketing and Communications Manager ensures communications are timely. consistent and audience focused, helping to connect people with volunteering, and to demonstrate the impact volunteering has on communities throughout Queensland.
Key Responsibilities
As the Marketing and Communications Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
Develop and implement integrated marketing and communications strategies that align with Volunteering Queensland’s Strategic Plan and organisational priorities.
Develop and manage a strategic content and communications calendar that aligns campaigns, programs, services, events and key sector priorities to ensure coordinated and timely communications to build Volunteering Queensland’s brand profile.
Create and oversee the production of high-quality content across digital, print, media and social media channels ensuring a consistent brand voice and engaging storytelling.
Manage media relations by building and maintaining positive relationships with media representatives, identifying proactive media opportunities, developing and distributing media releases, and coordinating interviews, media responses and spokesperson briefings to effectively promote Volunteering Queensland.
Monitor, evaluate and report on marketing and communications performance using data and insights to continuously improve campaign effectiveness, audience engagement and organisational impact.
Qualifications, skills and experience
Be qualified in Marketing and/ or Communications and/or public relations.
Extensive hands-on experience working in the field for 10+ years.
Experience in not-for-profit and/or government sectors.
Ability to multi-task, prioritise competing demands, attend to detail, and meet expected deadlines.
Highly developed written and oral communication, and interpersonal and relationship building skills
Ability to operate under limited direction and exercise managerial responsibility to team operations and working relationships
High level digital technology and tool skills including the proficient use of MS365;Teams, Planner, OneNote, WordPress, CANVA, Adobe Creative Suite, Meltwater, all social media platforms
Key Relationships
Direct oversight of events, communications, graphic design, social media and contractors as required
All internal teams, staff and volunteers
Commonwealth, state and local government agencies
Current and potential Volunteering Queensland members
Volunteer-involving organisations
Current and potential corporate volunteering partners
Other relevant Volunteering Queensland partners
