About the role
Youth Outreach delivers Temporary Supported Accommodation through our dedicated support team, providing Specialist Homelessness Services funded by the Queensland Department of Housing.
Our 24-hour, seven-day-a-week accommodation service supports young people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. We provide a safe and supportive environment where young people can stabilise their circumstances, build resilience, and work towards long-term housing outcomes.
The primary focus of our service is to assist young people to obtain, maintain, and sustain secure housing. Through tailored support and practical life-skills development, we help young people build the knowledge, confidence, and independence required for successful tenancy and community participation.
Using a person-centred approach, our team works alongside each young person to identify goals, develop independent living skills, strengthen connections to education and employment, and create pathways to safe, sustainable housing and positive futures.
We are looking for part-time team members to join our multidisciplinary team of skilled Youth Workers in 24/7 accommodation over the 24-hour roster fortnight. Paid under the SCHADS Award. Minimum guaranteed hours are on offer with the ability to request additional open/vacant shifts on the roster.
The purpose of this role is to provide a safe and supportive environment, to assist young people to develop independent living skills, develop plans to support goals and help the young person re-engage in employment, education and their community. Candidates who have experience working with young people in residential settings and/or with a mental health support background will be highly regarded.
Responsibilities:
Uphold our Child Safe Environment practices.
Maintain a safe and supportive environment by promoting the importance of contributing to a shared living arrangement.
Maintain house routines and support to establish individual routines.
Strong communication and engagement skills.
Support young people to achieve goals identified in their case plan and to participate in the Living Together Program (living skills for a successful tenancy).
Support to understand the responsibilities of a tenancy.
Assist young people to connect with their community and other services to meet case plan goals by making appropriate referrals.
Contribute to continual improvement and service safety.
Intermediate computer literacy and the ability to move between multiple digital platforms for case notes, emails and reporting.
Employment Requirements
Minimum Diploma level tertiary qualifications in Community Services and/or relevant discipline.
Experience in a 24/7 Residential environment is preferred.
