Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a great opportunity to influence organisational strategy, lead critical corporate services functions, and help shape the future of a respected not-for-profit disability service provider.
About the Role
As CFO, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across Finance, Quality, Clinical Governance, Risk Management, and Information Technology. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation's long-term financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and readiness for future growth opportunities.
Working closely with the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team, you will provide trusted advice and commercial insight to support informed decision-making, service excellence, and mission-aligned outcomes.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to major strategic initiatives, including organisational transformation, service innovation, and potential merger and acquisition activities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnering
Develop and execute financial strategies that support organisational goals and long-term sustainability.
Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and multi-year financial planning processes.
Provide strategic financial and commercial advice to the CEO, Executive Team and Board.
Deliver insights on service performance, pricing, workforce planning, technology investments and property initiatives.
Financial Management & Governance
Oversee all finance operations including accounting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, treasury, cash flow and banking.
Ensure robust financial controls, policies and governance frameworks.
Lead monthly financial reporting and performance analysis.
Drive continuous improvement across financial systems, processes and reporting.
Compliance, Audit & Funding
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory and funding requirements.
Lead external financial audits and implement recommendations.
Oversee financial reporting and acquittals for funding bodies, grants and philanthropic programs.
Maintain compliance with ACNC, ATO, Australian Accounting Standards, NDIS requirements and other statutory obligations.
Revenue & Funding Optimisation
Oversee NDIS claiming, billing integrity and revenue management.
Monitor funding agreements and contractual obligations.
Support pricing reviews, funding diversification and commercial opportunities.
Quality, Clinical Governance & Risk
Provide executive oversight of quality management, clinical governance, occupational health and safety, and enterprise risk management frameworks.
Ensure effective management of audit programs and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Information Technology
Provide executive oversight of technology systems, infrastructure and digital capability.
Manage the relationship with the organisation's external IT service provider.
Ensure technology platforms effectively support service delivery and operational efficiency.
Mergers & Acquisitions
Support the Board and CEO in evaluating strategic growth opportunities.
Lead financial due diligence and assessment activities for potential mergers, acquisitions or partnerships.
People Leadership
Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team.
Build financial capability across operational leaders through education and accessible reporting.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and service excellence.
About You
You are a strategic finance leader who combines commercial acumen with a genuine commitment to purpose-driven organisations. You bring a collaborative leadership style, strong governance capability, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline.
CPA or equivalent qualification.
Significant senior financial leadership experience, ideally at CFO, Finance Director or equivalent level.
Demonstrated experience leading financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting and reporting functions.
Strong governance, audit, risk and compliance expertise.
Experience presenting to Boards and Board Committees.
Proven leadership experience developing and managing high-performing teams.
Highly Desirable
Experience within the disability, health, aged care, community services or broader not-for-profit sector.
Knowledge of NDIS funding, pricing and compliance frameworks.
Experience overseeing Quality, Risk, Clinical Governance and/or IT functions.
Experience in mergers, acquisitions, organisational restructuring or growth initiatives.
