About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer - Casual to join our Finance team based in our Melbourne office for a temporary assignment of 6–8 weeks.

The Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of supplier invoices and employee expense claims, ensuring vendors are paid in accordance with agreed terms and company policies. This role supports end-to-end Accounts Payable operations, including invoice validation, three-way matching, exception resolution, payment processing, supplier reconciliations, and month-end activities. The successful candidate will maintain strong internal controls while delivering a high level of service to both suppliers and internal stakeholders.

What you’ll do

• Maintain and monitor the internal invoice approval process, ensuring all invoices are approved by the relevant stakeholders in a timely manner. Regularly monitor and maintain the Invoice IQ portal to ensure invoice approvals are up to date and accurately tracked.

• Process a high volume of supplier invoices accurately and within established timeframes, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

• Perform supplier statement reconciliations, investigate and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies, and maintain accurate supplier account balances.

• Manage weekly payment runs for local and international suppliers, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payments while maintaining appropriate approval processes and supporting documentation

• Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate accounts payable records, including reconciliations and reporting as required.

• Process employee expense claims and company credit card reconciliations.

• Manage enquiries from internal stakeholders and suppliers professionally and promptly.

• Manage daily cash flow requirements by preparing payment forecasts, monitoring cash availability, prioritizing supplier payments, and providing timely cash flow reports to support financial decision-making for CFO.

•  Support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end activities relevant to accounts payable.

• Assist in maintaining compliance with organizational policies, internal controls, and relevant legislation.

• Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the finance function.

What you’ll have 

• Proven experience in Accounts Payable or a similar finance administration role.

• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in processing financial transactions.

• Ability to effectively priorities workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Sound understanding of basic accounting principles relevant to Accounts Payable process.

• Proficiency with general finance/ERP systems (Preferably SAP) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.

• Experience with automated Accounts Payable invoice processing systems is highly regard
