About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Officer to support the day-to-day finance operations across multiple education entities.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of accounting and finance activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, student finance administration, reconciliations, payroll support and month-end reporting.
This position is suited to someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented and capable of managing their responsibilities independently with appropriate guidance and support.
Visa sponsorship may be considered for a suitably qualified candidate, subject to business requirements and the candidate meeting the relevant Australian immigration eligibility requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing and weekly payment runs.
Manage accounts receivable, including student payment allocation, account follow-up and outstanding fee collection.
Perform bank, balance sheet and other month-end reconciliations.
Assist with month-end close and the preparation of management reports.
Support budgeting, cash flow reporting and revenue recognition processes.
Process student refunds, payment plans and instalment arrangements.
Maintain student financial records in the relevant student management systems.
Assist with payroll administration, leave balances and employee entitlement calculations.
Prepare audit supporting documents, reconciliations and working papers.
Maintain accurate accounting records across multiple entities.
Liaise with internal teams regarding finance and student account matters.
Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls and reporting.
Skills and Experience
Essential
A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
At least two years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
Strong working knowledge of Xero.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Highly Desirable
Experience working in the education sector.
Experience with student management systems such as Meshed.
Professional-level proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken Chinese.
Experience using financial reporting and management reporting tools, such as Fathom or similar platforms.
Experience with student fees, refunds, instalment plans or revenue recognition.
Currently studying towards, or holding, a CPA or CA qualification.
