About the Company

Our client is a respected, knowledge-led organisation based in the Sydney CBD. It is a smaller organisation that values rigour, integrity, and meaningful work over scale. The environment is calm, professional, and intellectually curious. People who thrive here enjoy being close to the detail, value steady and respectful working relationships, and want to do work that matters without the noise of a large corporate structure.

About the Role

This Assistant Accountant role sits within a small, supportive finance team and works closely with the Head of Finance across the full accounting cycle. It is a genuinely hands-on position with real breadth, covering everything from day-to-day transactional processing through to BAS, fixed assets, and reporting that reaches the C-suite. It would suit a part-qualified accountant who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, enjoys owning their own area of
work, and wants the exposure and scope to keep developing.

Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable, including fortnightly supplier payment runs and credit card payables;
  • Process accounts receivable transactions and manage day-to-day banking administration;
  • Complete bank and balance sheet reconciliations, and maintain general ledger accounts;
  • Record accruals, prepayments, and general journals;
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules;
  • Prepare and process quarterly BAS returns and assist with the annual FBT return;
  • Support payroll administration; and
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as requested by leadership.
About You
  • Part-qualified (CA or CPA) and actively progressing your studies;
  • A solid grounding across the transactional accounting cycle, ideally with some exposure to reconciliations, month-end, and BAS;
  • Happy to be hands-on and close to the detail;
  • Strong attention to detail and a reliable, organised working style;
  • Comfortable working with autonomy in a small team and contributing to a collaborative, respectful culture.
Benefits
  • Genuine hybrid work environment;
  • Sydney CBD office conveniently located near the Metro and major train connections;
  • An interesting and varied work environment with genuine intellectual depth;
  • A broad role with genuine scope to develop and take on more over time;
  • A purpose-driven organisation with a calm, thoughtful culture.
