With a strong retail and distribution footprint, we are continuing to grow and evolve, and we are now seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our leadership team, and play a key role in shaping the financial direction and continued success of our business.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Financial Controller plays a critical role in overseeing the financial health, integrity, and performance of the business. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for leading the finance function, delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring statutory compliance, and providing commercial insights to support strategic decision-making.

You will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and operational leaders, delivering financial insights that improve business performance, strengthen internal controls, and support strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities

As our Financial Controller, you will:

• Oversee all financial and accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, and balance sheet reconciliations

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.

• Lead the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting and cash flow management.

• Monitor business performance and provide commercial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

• Partner with operational leaders to improve profitability and support informed business decisions.

• Oversee payroll governance and ensure compliance with payroll-related legislative obligations.

• Manage statutory reporting requirements including BAS, PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, FBT, STP and WorkCover obligations.

• Review, implement and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies and risk management frameworks.

• Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors, financial institutions and external advisors.

• Drive continuous improvement through automation, process optimisation and best-practice financial management.

• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing finance team.

About you

You are a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with the business and leading a team. You bring strong technical capability combined with the ability to communicate clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce

• CPA or CA qualification

• 5+ years in a senior accounting or financial management role

• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

• Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and statutory compliance.

• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.

• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.

• High level of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail.

• Experience in a retail, wholesale, or multi-site business environment.

• Proven leadership and team development experience.

• Experience with Pronto Xi.
