About the role

We're looking for a friendly, organised and enthusiastic Receptionist to become the welcoming face of The Cat Doctors on Saturdays.

This casual position is based at our Caulfield South clinic, with regular Saturday hours of 7:45 am to 3:30 pm. There is also the opportunity to pick up additional weekday shifts to cover annual leave and other team absences, making this a great role for someone looking for some flexibility and variety.

As the first person our clients meet (and often the first voice they hear on the phone), you'll play an important role in creating a warm, professional experience from the moment they contact us. Whether you're greeting a new kitten, reassuring the owner of a nervous senior cat, or helping our veterinary team keep the day running smoothly, you'll be an essential part of our close-knit practice.

What you'll be doing

• Welcoming clients and their cats with warmth, professionalism and genuine care.

• Managing appointments using our veterinary practice software to keep the day running efficiently.

• Answering phone calls and assisting clients with appointments, enquiries and general information.

• Processing payments accurately using our point-of-sale system.

• Maintaining accurate client and patient records.

• Assisting with administrative tasks including invoicing, filing and data entry.

• Supporting the veterinary team by preparing consultation rooms and helping maintain clinic flow.

• Communicating with clients about appointments, follow-up care and treatment recommendations.

• Handling client enquiries with empathy, professionalism and confidence.

• Keeping the reception area tidy, well-stocked and welcoming.

What we're looking for

You'll thrive in this role if you:

• Have previous reception experience (veterinary or healthcare experience is highly regarded).

• Enjoy providing outstanding customer service and remain calm under pressure.

• Are highly organised, reliable and have excellent attention to detail.

• Are confident using computers and appointment management systems.

• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Can work independently while also being a supportive member of a collaborative team.

• Are available to work every Saturday from 7:45 am to 3:30 pm, with the flexibility to occasionally cover weekday shifts when required.

• Have a genuine love of cats and understand that every feline has its own unique personality (and timetable!).

• Bring a positive attitude, initiative and willingness to help wherever needed.

• Have experience in veterinary administration or knowledge of veterinary terminology (preferred but not essential).
