We are working with a well-established not-for-profit organisation to recruit an IT Desktop & Field Support Officer to join its ICT team based in Sydney’s Inner West.

This role is well suited to someone who has built a solid foundation in desktop or Level 1 IT support and is looking to take the next step in their IT career. Working as part of a collaborative ICT team, you’ll support users across the organisation while building your skills across desktop deployments, user support and broader IT responsibilities as your experience develops.

About the Role

As the IT Desktop & Field Support Officer, you’ll play an important role in supporting the organisation’s end-user technology environment. This is a varied, hands-on role with a strong focus on the physical build, imaging, deployment and ongoing maintenance of desktop and laptop devices, device refresh programs, desktop and field support, and end-user technology across the organisation.

Working closely with the Technology Services Manager and broader ICT team, you’ll contribute to the day-to-day delivery of ICT services while continuing to build your technical skills and experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building, imaging and deploying Windows desktops and laptops

  • Providing desktop and field support across multiple Sydney locations

  • Troubleshooting hardware, software, printers and peripheral devices

  • Supporting user onboarding and offboarding

  • Assisting with Microsoft 365, Active Directory and user administration

  • Managing desktop deployments and device refresh programs

  • Managing IT assets, stock and hardware inventory

  • Assisting with hardware replacements and warranty-related activities

  • Logging, prioritising and resolving Level 1 support requests

  • Participating in a daytime support roster between 7:30am and 6:00pm

  • Escalating issues where required and working collaboratively with the wider ICT team

  • Contributing to documentation and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:

  • Experience in Desktop Support, IT Support or a similar end-user support role

  • Experience supporting Windows desktop environments

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory

  • Experience using an ITSM platform such as Jira Service Management, ServiceNow or similar

  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to learn and continue developing your technical skills

  • A current Australian driver’s licence (access to a vehicle highly regarded)

The following would be highly regarded:

  • Experience with Microsoft Intune or Windows deployment tools

  • Basic networking knowledge

  • Experience supporting AV and meeting room technology

  • Microsoft or CompTIA certifications
