About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of financial operations across the organisation.

The role is responsible for processing and coordinating a range of finance activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, operational support, reporting, and payroll assistance. The position also supports the payroll function alongside the Payroll Officer and provides backfill during periods of leave.

Working closely with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders, you will help streamline financial processes, ensure compliance with policies and legislation, and provide high-quality advice and support to staff across Lort Smith.
  
Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities:
  • Operations of the accounts department, including but not limited to accounts payable, receivable and general financial administration
  • Cash management – including bank reconciliations, cash flows and discrepancy reporting
  • Management of payment channels, debtor management and third-party account management
  • Management of key mailboxes (accounts and vendor invoices)
You’ll also be involved in:
  • Ensuring efficient and responsive financial services are provided to the organisation including month-end processing, reconciliations
  • Assisting in BAS, FBT and ATO submissions
  • Ensuring financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures in accordance to the relevant legislation, policies and standards
  • Processing the fortnightly payroll during periods of leave, supported by the Finance Manager
  • Supporting the reconciliation of staff rates / pays against the Lort Smith Enterprise Agreement, employment agreements and Modern Awards
  • Monitoring the payroll mailbox during periods of leave and acting as a key contact for payroll-related queries, responding in a timely manner an escalating where required
  • Wage reporting and other ad hoc analysis
  You’ll bring:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Analytical, adaptable and proactive work ethic
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Proficient use of financial software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Bachelor of Finance, Accounting or related field (desirable)
  • Prior experience in payroll and experience in EBA and Award interpretation (desirable)
