As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Bookkeeper / Financial Controller to join our team at our Wetherill Park manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on role offering broad exposure across finance, costing, reporting, and business operations.
About the Role
Reporting directly to senior management, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the business while providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Process invoices, customer orders, and general financial transactions
Complete bank reconciliations, BAS, and statutory reporting requirements
Maintain the general ledger and prepare month-end financial reports
Prepare management reports, cash flow forecasts, budgets, and financial analysis
Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, and government agencies
Support continuous improvement of financial systems, controls, and reporting processes
Skills & Experience
Financial Management & Reporting
Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and reporting
Experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting
Ability to analyse business performance and provide commercial insights
Strong reconciliation and month-end close experience
Manufacturing Costing & Commercial Analysis
Cost accounting and COGS management, including Bills of Materials (BOM), standard versus actual costing, and variance analysis
Inventory valuation knowledge including FIFO, weighted average costing, work-in-progress (WIP), and perpetual-to-general ledger reconciliations
Experience managing perishable inventory, including shelf-life write-offs, wastage, spoilage, and obsolescence provisions
Margin and profitability analysis across product lines, customers, and sales channels
Systems & Reporting
Advanced MYOB experience with strong general ledger and journal processing knowledge
Experience with Datapel WMS or similar business systems is advantageous
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting, analysis, and data management
Compliance & Governance
Strong knowledge of Australian accounting and taxation requirements, including:
BAS and GST
PAYG withholding
Payroll and superannuation
Payroll tax
Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT)
Experience working with external auditors and tax advisors
Qualifications & Personal Attributes
CPA or CA qualified (or currently studying)
Previous experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, or consumer goods industries is preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and a proactive approach
Confidence to challenge assumptions and identify process improvements
Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with operational teams
