Financial Manager - Operations

The OPPORTUNITY
This is a newly created role designed to sit close to operational performance, bridging the gap between service and fabrication delivery and financial insight. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller and working closely with the division leaders, the Finance Manager – Operations will be the primary financial partner for those divisions, with a secondary mandate to support the emerging prefabrication business unit.
The right person will be as comfortable with diversified tasks, from KPI monitoring and working capital management through to ground-level insight finding. This is not a compliance or reporting-only seat, it is a commercial role that requires the ability to challenge, influence, and drive financially informed decisions with the division leaders.
Key Responsibilities
▸ Using internal dashboards to monitor KPI and metrics, prepare the reporting packs, and management reports that provide actionable insights across the business
▸ Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis, including labour, materials, cash flow, profitability margin, and Working capital reporting, incorporating risks and opportunities into forecasts
▸ Act as the primary financial partner across the divisions: understand performance, identify trends, and provide commercial recommendations
▸ Analysis financial performance, including monthly status, WIP & debtor days and variances to plan and forecast, providing clear insights and commentary to support GM’s decision-making
▸ Lead rolling forecasts for both divisions, covering labour, materials, subcontractor costs, and overhead analysis
▸ Monitor working capital, debtor days, and creditor exposure, escalating risks promptly and maintaining cash flow visibility for the Financial Controller
▸ Perform data extraction, validation, and reconciliation across Levesys and supplementary systems to ensure reporting accuracy and data integrity
▸ Review monthly cost and accruals, ensuring accurate cost capture and variance analysis against forecast
▸ Maintain robust financial records, audit trails, and documentation to support internal and external audit requirements
▸ Conduct scenario modelling and ad-hoc analysis to support strategic decisions, new contract bids, and capital expenditure proposals
▸ Drive continuous improvement through enhanced reporting, automation, and process optimisation — leveraging internal dashboards and tooling to reduce manual effort
About you
This is a solo finance seat embedded in an operational business. There is no analyst below you to catch your overflow. You might spend the morning untangling a billing discrepancy between business and a client, then present a margin waterfall to the GM in the afternoon. You are comfortable with that — in fact, you prefer it.
We are looking for the right attitude: someone who rolls up their sleeves without being asked, takes ownership of problems they did not create, and can hold a credible conversation with a service GM and with the C-suite in the boardroom. If that sounds like you, we want to hear from you.
Qualifications & Experience
▸ CPA or CA qualified, or in final stages of completion
▸ 4+ years of experience in a commercial finance, FP&A, or operational finance role — quality of experience matters more than years served
▸ Demonstrated ability to operate as a genuine all-rounder: hands-on with the numbers and credible with senior stakeholders
▸ Background in facility management, service business, or high-volume transactional environments is an advantage
▸ Experience in a multi-entity group with an ERP system (Levesys experience a bonus, not required)
Technical Skills
▸ Ability to interpret the metrics that actually drive behaviour, rather than numbers that merely present what already happened
▸ Exposure to AI, automation, or analytics tools in a practical business setting is valued
▸ Comfortable extracting, reconciling, and validating data across multiple systems — this role lives in the gap between systems
Personal Attributes
▸ A roll-up-your-sleeves mindset — you do not consider any task beneath you if it needs doing
▸ Equally comfortable presenting to the C-suite and talking through a job level with service team — you adapt your register instinctively
▸ You surface problems early, bring solutions with them, and follow through without being chased
▸ Commercially curious: you want to understand why the numbers look the way they do, not just report that they do
▸ Calm under competing deadlines without dropping the ball on quality
▸ Strong communicator who translates financial complexity into plain language for operational people
