Technical Database Specialist

• $900 - $1000 per day + super

As an experienced Technical Database Specialist, you will lead the transformation of legacy data load processes into a modern Data Lake environment.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who thrives on solving complex enterprise data challenges. You will be responsible for analysing, reverse-engineering, and modernising legacy applications and database processes while designing scalable data ingestion and staging solutions that support the organisation's future-state architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the optimisation and consolidation of legacy data load processes into efficient, Data Lake-based pipelines.

• Reverse-engineer and modernise complex legacy applications developed in PHP, Python, Oracle PL/SQL and SQL Server (T-SQL).

• Design and implement resilient data ingestion, validation and staging processes capable of handling complex ETL workloads and non-sequential data.

• Develop and maintain scalable Data Lake staging environments with strong audit, governance and data quality controls.

• Provide technical leadership and guidance across project teams, supporting API integration, solution design and enterprise data transformation initiatives.

Key Skills

• Advanced programming expertise in Python with the ability to analyse and maintain legacy PHP applications.

• Extensive experience developing, optimising and troubleshooting complex Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server (T-SQL) and enterprise database solutions.

• Strong knowledge of Data Lake, ETL, data engineering and modern cloud or hybrid data architectures.

• Proven ability to analyse enterprise-wide data dependencies and design scalable, high-performance data processing solutions.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and technical leadership skills gained within large enterprise or government environments using Agile delivery practices.
