Junior / Entry Level Accounts Payable & Receivable Officer

Basco Wholesale is looking for a motivated and detail-focused Junior / Entry Level Accounts Payable & Receivable Officer to join our head office team in Croydon South, Melbourne.

This is a great opportunity for someone with basic accounts experience who is looking to further develop their skills across both accounts payable and accounts receivable. Training and support will be provided, making this role ideal for someone who is early in their accounting or administration career and eager to learn.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised, and keen to build a long-term career in accounts. You will have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and grow within a busy office environment.

The successful candidate will have basic experience in accounts, bookkeeping, administration, or a similar office-based role. Experience using Xero is preferred, along with good attention to detail and the confidence to communicate with suppliers, customers, and internal team members in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting with the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.

• Receiving, reviewing, and entering supplier invoices.

• Matching invoices with purchase orders and assisting with resolving discrepancies.

• Coding invoices to the correct accounts and cost centres.

• Assisting with supplier statement reconciliations and maintaining accurate vendor records.

• Supporting customer invoicing, payment allocation, and customer account reconciliations.

• Following up outstanding customer payments in a professional and friendly manner.

• Responding to supplier, customer, and internal account enquiries.

• Assisting with accounts payable and receivable reporting as required.

• Maintaining accurate records and supporting good filing and documentation practices.

• Working closely with other departments to resolve account-related questions.

• Assisting with general administration and ad hoc accounting duties as required.

• Learning and following company policies, procedures, and accounting processes.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• Basic experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, finance administration, or general office administration.

• A minimum of 3-6 months experience in accounts, bookkeeping, or finance administration roles.

• Experience using Xero, preferred.

• Good Microsoft Excel and computer skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Good communication skills and a friendly, professional manner.

• Strong organisation and time management skills.

• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.

• An interest in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or business administration.

• The ability to work on site Monday to Friday at our Croydon South head office.

• A qualification or studies in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or business administration will be viewed favourably but is not essential.

• Australian citizenship is required for this position.
