We're seeking an experienced Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the daily operations of a busy distribution centre in South Melbourne. This role is ideal for a Warehouse Supervisor, Fulfilment Supervisor, Distribution Team Leader, Operations Supervisor, or Department Manager looking to progress into a broader leadership position.

Working closely with the Warehouse Manager, you'll play a key role in leading warehouse operations, developing team capability, maintaining inventory accuracy, and driving operational excellence. This is a highly visible, floor-based leadership role where you'll lead by example and help create a positive, high-performing workplace culture.

About the Role

As the Assistant Warehouse Manager, you'll support the leadership of a fast-paced warehouse operation and help ensure customer orders are received, processed and dispatched safely, accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day management of warehouse operations

• Lead, motivate and develop warehouse team members across receiving, replenishment, picking, packing and dispatch

• Coordinate workflow and labour allocation to meet operational targets

• Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate stock discrepancies

• Support cycle counting and stock control activities

• Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with workplace procedures

• Maintain productivity, quality and service standards

• Assist with workforce planning, scheduling and operational reporting

• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency

• Act as second-in-charge to the Warehouse Manager

About You

Skills & Experience

• 1–3+ years' experience in a warehouse leadership role

• Proven experience leading teams of 10 or more employees

• Strong inventory management and stock control experience

• Experience working within high-volume warehouse, distribution or fulfilment environments

• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills

• A hands-on leadership style with a strong work ethic

• Ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines

• Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and related technology

• Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement
