Senior Accountant

Exciting Financial Accountant Role 
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for supporting the integrity of financial reporting through accurate month-end processes, reconciliations, compliance activities, and audit preparation, while also contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant and Director of Finance, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information across the organisation.

• Financial Accounting & Month-End Close
• Lead and support the month-end accounting process, including preparation of journals, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports for management, including commentary and variance analysis.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare and submit statutory returns including BAS and IAS.
• Support the preparation of annual statutory financial statements.
• Assist with audit preparation, including provision of supporting documentation and liaison with external auditors.

Budgeting & Forecasting Support

• Assist with the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes under the direction of the Senior Accountant and Director of Finance.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting support to assist with planning and decision-making.

Grants & Financial Management

• Monitor and reconcile research grant distributions and maintain associated provision accounts.
• Ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting of grant-related transactions.

Finance Support & Continuous Improvement

• Respond to finance-related queries and provide analysis and insights to internal stakeholders.
• Support accounts payable, credit card reconciliations, and bank reconciliations as required.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and finance projects.
• Assist with ad hoc financial reporting and analysis tasks as required.

About You

You are a motivated and detail-focused accounting professional with strong technical skills and a commitment to accurate financial reporting.

You will bring:

• Experience in financial accounting, reporting, and month-end processes.
• CA or CPA qualification (or working towards completion).
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience preparing or supporting BAS/IAS and audit processes.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
