Accountant – Financial Control & Operations (Client & Energy)

About the Role

We’re a growing energy and utilities services provider, and we’re looking for a strong SME accountant to take ownership of financial accuracy across both client accounts and company finance.

You will work across the business to ensure financial accuracy, reporting integrity, and operational performance, while supporting decision-making and helping improve how we operate as we scale.

This role suits someone who wants to step beyond traditional siloed accounting roles. You’ll work closely with our client services and commercial teams, playing a key role in making sure the business runs smoothly and scales with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Client Finance

• Own processes and reconciliations across accounting and banking systems

• Ensure accuracy and integrity of client financial data

• Client monthly reporting outputs

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies and issues

• Work with Client Services to ensure timely and accurate delivery

Company Finance

• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes

• Perform internal reconciliations and maintain clean accounts

• Support internal reporting, structure, and financial management

• Prepare internal reports and support business decision-making

General

• Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and efficiency

• Support commercial and leadership teams

What we’re looking for

• 3–7+ years’ experience in accounting or similar roles

• Strong reconciliation skills and accounting fundamentals

• Advanced analytical capability (Excel, Power BI)

• Comfortable working across multiple systems and datasets

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Practical problem-solver

• Takes ownership and follows things through

Highly Regarded

• Experience in utilities, energy, strata, property or similar

• Experience in SME or multi-entity environments

• Exposure to management reporting or commercial analysis

• Experience with Xero or similar accounting systems
